CPlay Timaru Playground Signage

When CPlay, Timaru’s destination playground at Caroline Bay, opened in December 2023, Branded Kiwi was proud to deliver the printed signage for Timaru District Council.

Playground signage has to be tough enough for the outdoors and bright enough to catch young eyes. It also needs to tell a story. CPlay is built around South Canterbury’s history, from the shipwreck to the lighthouse tower and the taniwha under the flying fox, and the signs needed to carry that same sense of place.

Working with graphic artist Roselyn Fauth of Cloake Creative, we printed and produced her designs exactly as she created them, keeping the colour, detail and resolution true to her artwork. The project included custom interpretive signage, the artwork panel in the playground’s whare (a collaboration with artist Francine Spencer), and the feature sign in the lighthouse: a montage of tiles made by local families showing their memories of and hopes for the playground.
